Hold the Popcorn, Terrell

THE UNSUNG HEROES OF THE DIVISIONAL PLAYOFFS

One more punter must be mentioned (sorry Skip Bayless).

The current NFL streak of consecutive games played is owned by a man named Jeff Feagles, a punter for the New York Giants.

True, he is not putting himself through half the physical punishment as the others, but we have seen punters miss games due to injuries in the past. Not only does Feagles play every game, he TWICE today pinned the Dallas Cowboys inside their own twenty.

Unfortunately, both times the Giants defense allowed the Cowboys to drive the ball down the field and score touchdowns both times, but Feagles did his part.

I'm sure that if he did one of them at the end of the game and pinned the Cowboys deep as Scifres did against the Colts he would have gotten more than just a pat on the butt. Given, his last punt set up a drive where Tony Romo threw his only interception of the game, the other two mentioned stood out to me.

Antonio Gates played Sunday with a dislocated toe and played well. Marvin Harrison made his return after missing almost three full months of football (and he fumbled one ball).

But after a weekend of football, my eye was caught by other moments. Given everyone saw the same plays that I did, how many people really sat there and thought, 'These are backups propelling the offense!' or 'That punter just kicked one into the next county!?' And, since the Cowboys are eliminated (and Romo has still not won a playoff game), I can honestly say that this year's conference championships will be worth watching.

Especially now that I don't have to worry about a Patriots-Cowboys Super Bowl.
